Discussion on Jiribam development works held

JIRIBAM, May 7: A public meeting was organized with various civil society organizations located at Jiribam and officials of departments in the sub-division joining hands together at the hall of the office of Jiri Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (JIMPAL) today at around 11 a.m.

During the discussion on various issues proposed by the people present, Y. Iboyaima said that most of the government officials posted at Jiribam do not stay at Jiribam while expressing dissatisfaction that the officials only come along with MLAs and Ministers or VIPs who visit Jiribam and return with them.

He continued that actions will be taken against them while appealing to the public to extend their support.

He alleged that there are many useless departments and he pointed out that the useless departments include DIC office, sports department, Minor Irrigation Department etc. Various office buildings have been constructed in connection with up gradation of Jiri to a district but the offices are yet to function. Consequently the IRB centre/police training centre house Central forces. ADC office, Jiribam only was shifted to DC complex/Mini Secretariat at Chingdong Leikai which is among the buildings constructed by PWD. As Jiri has not been upgraded to a district, ADC office is used instead of DC office. He lamented that if people of Jiribam do not join hands together, outsiders will take control of the area when Jiribam is upgraded to a district.
