Bail move denied in drug seizure case

IMPHAL, May 6: The bail plea for six police personnel of the Moreh Commando Unit who were arrested with drugs earlier was denied by the special Court of the Narcotics substance and psychotropic substance (NDSP), Lamphel which sent all 11 police personnel involved in the case to 15 days of judicial remand till May 20.
All 11 state police personnel were earlier caught along with a huge consignment of banned tablets containing pseudoephedrine by a team of Thoubal police commandos led by Sudhir, officer in charge of the Commando Thoubal in front of the Pallel police station on April 28.
The said police personnel along with the seized drugs had earlier been produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Thoubal on 29 April with the court remanding all of them to eight days of police custody. Subsequently, all 11 personnel were produced in front of the NDPS court with regard to the case under FIR number 62 (4) 2013 Kakching police station under section 21/29 of the ND&PS Act and 27 Arms act.
The bail plea moved by the 6 police personnel to the special court of the NDPS include Constable Number C/no 0908800 Nongmaithem Priyokumar, son of N Sarat of Kakching Chumnang Leikai; C/No 0915517 Maibam Henrik son of M Nongthon of Naharup Mayai Leikai; C/No 0915126 Ngangom Premjit, son of Ng Khomei of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai; C/No 0915555 N Surkumar, son of N Gopal of Khongman Mayai Leikai C/No 10D1289 Thanglenmang Touthang son of (L) Yamkhong Touthang of Pallel H Kotlenphai and Riflemen Number 012006123 S Ranbir.
The 11 state police personnel have now been sent to 15 days judicial custody till May 20.
