Finance and Treasury dept important for proper financial management : CM

IMPHAL, April 13: For a state with financial restraints and insufficient resources, the Finance and Treasury department is very important for proper management of the financial transactions, said the state Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today, informed an official press release.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the annual gathering function of the officers and officials of the Directorate of the Treasury and Accounts organized by the directorate, said the release.

The function was held at the banquet Hall of the 1st Manipur Rifles.

Employees, pensioners and old age pensioners have been provided with direct cash transfer into their respective accounts and the government is considering implementation of direct electronic transfer for other payments also, he continued.

Mentioning that towards the close of the financial year, there was a deficit amounting to below Rs 100 corers and a deficit of about Rs 596 crores at the end of financial year of the previous year, he attributed it to the government’s prioritisation of the needs and the economical use of funds.

The function was attended by Principal Secretary Finance Barun Mitra and Dr. R.K Nimai, Commissioner Art and Culture as the president and guest of honour respectively.
