CADA seeks real owners of seized drug consignments


IMPHAL, April 22: Continuing its campaign against the recent drug related cases in the state, the Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol today organized a massive public rally cum meeting in Imphal today.

The rally which was attended by several meira paibis, CADA volunteers, CSO volunteers, school students and sports players started from Khuman Lampak and concluded at the Thangmeiband Athletic Union ground, where the public meeting was held later.

People held placards reading, “Revive SIU”, “Review OC K Ranjit’s transfer” and others.

Meanwhile, later during the public meeting it was resolved to demand the public announcement of the owners of the drugs seized from the Imphal Airport as the previously arrested Md Rajuddin as the owner has been released.

During the meeting it was elaborated that Md Rajuddin who was previously arrested as the owner of the drug consignment seized from the Imphal Tulihal airport on January 11, 2013 was released after he was found to be innocent.

The meeting also demanded stern action against the Army Colonel Ajay Chaudhary who was the Public Relation Officer of the IGAR (S) when he was arrested along with a huge drug consignment from Pallel on February 24 last.

The meeting also demanded the government to announce announcement the cases taken up against Ajay Chaudhary and to revive SIU which was disbanded following the seizure of the huge drug consignment from the Imphal airport.

Other resolutions taken during the meeting also include a separate state drug policy.
