Blockade supporters set loaded truck on fire at Senapati


IMPHAL, April 23: In the midst of the indefinite highway blockade along the National Highway from the midnight of April 21 being launched jointly by theAll Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AZSU), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF), Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF), Zeliangrong Students’ Union (ZSU), persons suspected to be bandh supporters set a loaded truck on fire.

According to a source, the incident took place at around 9:30 a.m. near Khongnem Village under Senapati Police Station along the NH 2.

The registration number of the truck is NL-01/7228.

It was heading towards Imphal after being loaded with Castrol oil and Furniture. When the truck reached the scene of the incident, indefinite economic blockade supporters lying in wait stopped and set the truck on fire.

On hearing the news, fire tenders from Senapati District head quaters came to the scene and tried to douse the fire but the major part of the truck was already burnt by then.

It may be mentioned that today’s incident was the first undesirable incident in the three days of the indefinite economic blockade being imposed from April 21.
