IMPHAL, March 19: The Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLl) has in a release urged the state government to immediately take action in regard with the incident where reportedly 51 children were rescued by TSLD from Jaipur.
According to the release, “It is a rude shock to learn that 51 Children in the range of 5-18 years out of which 41 from Manipur state and the rest from Nagaland state have been rescued from an un-registered orphanage home in Jaipur, Rajasthan run by one Jacob John, a Keralite.”
“It is learnt that the children were subjected to inhumane treatment including forceful confinement and sexual abuse. TKLI is sad to learn that a large number of them predominantly from Manipur are a disclosure and revelation of the State's in-competencies, insufficiencies and shortcomings best known to them,” the release further said.
More shockingly, it is the morbid apathy and insensitivity of the state government even as the bold rescuers, the Tangkhul Shanao Long Delhi (TSLD) informed them of the news. While the Chief Minister of Nagaland himself called them back immediately with all concern and gratitude to take them back immediately, the release said.
The Govt of Manipur is adamantly silent on this issue till date. The state is reeling under a myriad of lawlessness and unhealthy situations due to such inhumane attitude of the governance towards humanitarian causes, it charged.
While the innocent lives are being played in the hands of anti social individuals, the Govt. has the audacity to remain mute is a matter of grave concern and the irony of the fate is that 80% of the rescued children are from Manipur, it said.
The Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLl) urges the Govt of Manipur to immediately respond to the SOS call of our children and promptly act out as a responsible authority, it said.
“We call upon all organizations and associations to lend support to this humanitarian cause of saving our unfortunate children,” it added.
