Fake job cards found at Toubul: Committee

IMPHAL, March 19: An application has been filed by the Toubul Development Welfare Committee (TDWC) on March 14, 2013 to the DC and Deputy Program Coordinator regarding the MGNREGS works in the area. An RTI was filed in the previous year when it came to light that fake job cards with only the signature of the Pradhan was being distributed to the people.

Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club today, Thokchom Bira Singh, Ex Zilla Parishad and Secretary of TDWC said the sanction order of the second phase of land development of the Mini Panchayat ground was issued on August 5, 2011-12 and no work was done for the first phase.

According to document received through RTI, it came to light that the names of dead persons were included in the wages distribution list. "This points to  mismanagement by the elected representatives regarding MGNREGS work in Toubul of Bishenpur district. As Bishenpur officials could not take actions against them, the higher authority is appealed to take the required action," he added.

He further warned that if the state government do not take action by March 22, 2013, all the relevant documents will be forwarded to the Central government.
