Junior fencing team crowned overall champion

IMPHAL, October 18: The state junior fencing team were crowned the overall champion (team event) at the 20th Junior National Fencing Championship at Raipur Chhattisgarh.

The team bag three gold, one silver and two bronze at the championship to be crowned the team champion.

The singles event will start from tomorrow.

In the foil team boys’ event today, Manipur defeated Army boys. The Manipur players are W Roshan, H Herojit, Kh Vicky and S Rakesh.

In the girls’ epee team event, Manipur defeated Kerala. The state team was represented by Ok Sanatombi, H Linthoi, A Devita and N Devina.

In the Girls Sabre team event the Manipuri girls lost to the Kerala team to clinch the Silver medal. The Manipuri players are G Krishnakumari, S Heron, W Cherish and S SUjata.

In the boy’s Epee team Semi final, the Manipur boys lost to the Army boys team to settle for the bronze. The state players are S Penand, O Sanjoy, N Santosh and Th Babulal.
